African Countries To Join Forces To Launch Bid For 2030 FIFA World Cup

African Countries To Join Forces To Launch Bid For 2030 FIFA World CupFootball fever is at an all-time high around the world as the 2018 FIFA World Cup moves into the quarter-finals stages. While football fans focus on the 2018 World Cup, African nations are already making plans to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco Eager To Win Next Bid

Morocco and the United States of America were battling it out to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FIFA Officials announced just before the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia that America had trumped Morocco and won the bid to host the 2026 World Cup. The United States partnered with neighbours Canada and Mexico to put in a joint-bid which appeared a lot more attractive than the bid that Morocco proposed.

Morocco is eager to get back into the bidding for the 2030 World Cup and might strengthen its position if it adopts a similar strategy as the United States and gets a few partners to boost its proposal. The African nation has tried on 5 occasions to host the FIFA World Cup but has failed all five times. Tunisia and Algeria are considering supporting Morocco in its next bid and will do their research before committing to the process.

In a statement, Mohamed Hattab, the Algerian Sports Minister said “Algeria will study a possible candidacy of the Maghreb countries for the organisation of the World Cup. An application from the Maghreb with Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia can be achieved through existing infrastructure as well as future projects. When we look at our cities, with the sporting and cultural facilities present, we are able to consider that we can host major world events”.

Football Expected To Thrive In Africa

There were just 5 African countries that made it to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. With African nations getting serious about hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, football fever in Africa is expected to continue to grow at a rapid pace over the next decade.

Young African men and women will be eager to see if they can make it to their respective national teams and represent their country at the World Cup while others will be eager to bet on their favorite African teams and see if they can get rich through sports betting.
