It comes as no surprise that Playtech is considered one of the industry’s leading providers of software to online casinos in the business. South African online gamblers are familiar with the excellent games and software provided by this group to casinos such as Casino.com and others in the Playtech family. Many may be surprised, however, to learn that Playtech also supplies its software to land-based casinos. The group recently announced that it has extended a contract it has with the Rank Group, one of the United Kingdom’s most established gaming operators. Playtech will fully integrate its table and slot management systems across the land-based casinos owned by Rank Group’s Grosvenor Casinos brand.
Last year, Playtech and the Rank Group celebrated an excellent 2016 after Playtech’s Neon casino management system was spread across the 54 casinos, and revenues grew significantly as a result. The extension of the deal means that Playtech will now introduce its table games and slots management systems as well. Grosvenor Casinos have around 3,000 electronic gaming machines and 650 table games. The Neon Tables iPad application will cover these table games. The migration of Rank’s casinos from their existing system to the Neon system will take place in the second half of this year.
The Director of Finance for Grosvenor Casinos, Richard Playle noted: “The project to replace our management systems was very successful. We worked as a team to address a wide range of technical challenges and business innovations and have successfully rolled out a system which is performing well across the estate, and meeting our business and technical goals.”
Playle said that migrating Grosvenor’s gaming systems to Playtech would enable the group to complete its modernization, offer an improved player experience and complete its vision of a single account and wallet across its retail and digital businesses.
The managing director of Playtech retail, Martin Sykes noted: “Rank is the largest casino operator in the United Kingdom and one of the most technically innovative in the world. I am positive that no other system supplier could have achieved what we did in 2016.”
Sykes noted that Playtech developed new features, optimized Neon for deployment in the Cloud, provided a number of integrations and supported the transition from the legacy systems, keeping data in step as the 54 sites were implemented.
