Russell Brand heads to SA’s Montecasino
It’s time to turn up the fun as unapologetic comedian Russell Brand heads to Montecasino at the end of September. Known for a number of movies including Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get him to the Greek, Brand is a household name throughout the UK, not just for his comedic antics but also for his activist endeavours. Last year, Brand launched The Trews Revolution, a YouTube series in which he ponders local and global news and gives his insights on the truth behind the news.
It is this show that Brand will be bringing to SA’s Montecasino from 29 September to 2 October 2015. Fans of the comedian can expect to Brand’s “Trew World Order” live for three nights only, with tickets starting at the low price of R350. The Teatro in Montecasino will host the comedic activist who has declared that his decision to change the world has born a need for him to be a part of the “crowd”. According to Brand, being part of the mob is the only way to effect change.
Those who buy tickets can expect to see an honest account of how Brand sees the world and may have a lot to think about in between bouts of laughter. The Telegraph, a UK-based newspaper, states that Brand is the most talented comedian to have emerged from Britain in this decade, and those who have had the opportunity to see his movies will no doubt agree.
Though his career has no doubt been a sparkling one, many fans of the comedian only discovered his talents after having seen him in popular magazines and tabloids with ex-spouse Katy Perry. The two were married and 2010 and split two years later, but Brand’s unique “brand” of comedy has seen him propel to fame, and fans of the couple have long since realised that Brand’s direct and unapologetic sense of humour will not be ignored.
Fans can start booking their tickets at montecasino.co.za but be sure to take the time to peruse the long list of acts the casino has lined up for the rest of the year. Another political comedian to catch on the circuit is the beloved Pieter Dirk Uys, who will be wowing audiences at the Pieter Toerien Main Theatre from 8 September to 4 October with his character, Evita Bezuidenhout.
If dance is more your style, be sure to catch the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre at the Teatro from 3 to 13 September or Blame it on the Bollywood, which will be hosted from 6 to 11 October this year. Also on the cards is international legend of music, Engelbert Humperdinck in November, Swan Lake on ice in January next year and the musical, Singing in the rain for two months in early 2016.
