In a first for the South African gaming industry, the vibrant world of 3D has come to life on Montecasino’s gaming floor, with four new slot machines that take players on a journey through time to the land of pharaohs – without having to use 3D glasses.
Glenn Joseph, General Manager of Montecasino, says, “We’re always looking for new ways to ensure our players have an experience to remember when they spend time in our casino. The exciting new Sphinx 3D machines – which made their African debut at Montecasino – offer an enhanced gaming experience for players and a thrilling array of game options.”
With an eye-tracking system that makes moving between mummies, pyramids, pharaohs and the elusive sphinx happen in the blink of an eye, these machines represent the latest gaming technology. The Sphinx 3D machines feature a five-reel game with an action-packed base game, two base game bonuses and five in the Sphinx 3D bonus selection, as well as a radically transformed game play using integrated player eye-tracking system. This “gives images a great level of depth while maintaining full clarity and allowing users to move naturally in front of the display. The integrated eye-tracking system detects the player’s position and continuously adjusts the images accordingly to allow freedom of movement in all directions,” according to Innovategaming, which adds, “This opens up a new world of possibilities in gaming, where it is unlikely 3D glasses would have become commonplace on the casino floor.”
Players are encouraged to spin the reels and enter one of seven bonus rounds, where they can interact with the 3D visual effects.
The Sphinx 3D game was recently named ‘Best of Show’ in the 2015 Southern Gaming Summit in Biloxi, Mississippi, in the trade show’s Best of Show Slot Award Competition. The winning slot machine was determined by Southern Gaming Summit attendees who cast their votes for the slot machine that boasted the best overall appearance, entertainment value, bonus rounds and a series of other attributes.
This award joins the Sphinx 3D game’s line-up of honours that include first place in Casino Enterprise Management Magazine’s 2014 Slot Floor Technology Awards; a platinum award for the most innovative product of 2013 in Casino Journal’s Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products Awards; and first place in the Best Slot Product category for Global Gaming Business Magazine’s 12th annual Gaming & Technology Awards.
Two of the new Sphinx machines are located in the Smoking Casino and two on the main casino floor at Montecasino, which is currently one of only two casinos in South Africa and the only one in Gauteng to offer this unique gaming experience.
“We’re delighted to be ahead of the game in South Africa with our new 3D acquisitions and look forward to offering a whole new world of entertainment to our slots players,” says Kamal Parbhoo, Slots Manager of Montecasino.
