World Sports Betting Signs on Springbok Icon as Brand Ambassador Tendai Mtawarira, prop for the iconic rugby group, the Springboks, has been chosen to be the brand ambassador for South Africa’s premier sportsbook, World Sports Betting (WBS). Mtawarira is a SA rugby union international, known as ‘The Beast’ in sports circles due to his size and unrelentless playing style on the rugby field.

According to WSB, Mtawarira will collaborate with its team on several marketing promotions, while producing original content across different platform to mark the brand’s support of sport in the country.

The head of marketing at WSB, Ryno du Plessis told sportsbook and rugby fans what they can expect to get out of the collaboration with Mtawarira:

“Fans can look forward to seeing lots of great content from the partnership,” he said. “Television advertising, our ‘Best Bets’ campaign, rugby insights, public appearances and more are already on the agenda.”

35-year-old Mtawarira said that WBS “is a brand that people associate with integrity and their product offering is mind-blowing.”

He also added that his own brand was very important to him and he was thus very proud to be stepping into the role as an ambassador for such a special company.

The Zim-born Mtawarira currently plays for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby. The 1.88 m powerhouse made his debut for South Africa against Wales in 2008, and since then has gone on the become the most capped prop in South African history. He is also the third most capped Springbok of all times (behind only Bryan Habana and Victor Matfield).

Mtawarira played his 100th test match against England in 2018. In the same year he sustained a neck injury against New Zealand, meaning that he was forced to miss the Bok’s tour of Europe.

But a year later, he was named in SA’s squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and the team went on to win the tournament in the final against England.
