South Africa’s leading casino and hospitality group, Sun International was pleased to announce that the Wild Coast Sun has reopened after being closed for nearly a month.
When President Ramaphosa declared adjusted level four lockdown restrictions in a bid to fight the third wave of the coronavirus, Sun International and other groups closed their casino properties as required by law.
Now, almost one month later, Sun International said that one of its most popular properties, the Wild Coast Sun, was opening its doors to the public again.
Grateful to be Trading Again
The general manager of the Wild Coast Sun, Peter Tshidi spoke about the excellent news that the property would be reopening.
“It would be an understatement to say we’re excited to be open again,” he said. “We appreciate the tough decisions the government has had to make, but our management and staff are extremely grateful to be trading again.”
Meeting all Safety Precautions
Although the casino has been allowed to reopen, it was important for Tshidi to reassure the public that all safety precautions remain in place to keep customers and employees safe. This includes closing the casino floor at the required 9 pm curfew as per level 3 government regulations.
“Of course, our strict Covid-19 protocols will firmly remain in place, but we can assure visitors that this will not impact their experience,” said the General Manager. “Our guests can expect excellent service with a smile, but that smile is especially broad today.”
What Wild Coast Sun Has to Offer
The Wild Coast Sun is set on 750 hectares of natural bush between the Umtamvuna and Mzamba Rivers in the Eastern Cape, one km from the Kwa-Zulu Natal border. The property is set on one of the country’s most magnificent and unspoiled beaches and overlooks the Indian Ocean.
- Casino: The casino floor has a variety of table games and slot machines. Suitable for COVID-19 restrictions, the slot machines are all operated by secure and efficient smart card technology. The casino caters to both smoking and non-smoking customers. There are nearly 550 slot machines and close to 20 table games, including blackjack, roulette and poker. Table bets range from R10 to R5,000. Highrollers can visit the Salon Prive, which is open to Gold, Platinum and Diamond loyalty card holders. The casino also has an exclusive smoking lounge, the Plantation Room, which boasts its own bar and a panoramic view of the sea.
- Outdoor entertainment: The Wild Coast Sun keeps its guests entertained through boat cruises, horse riding, quad biking, beach walks or Segway tours.
- Golf: This outdoor sport deserves a section of its own because of the championship 18-hole golf course. The Wild Coast Country Club forms part of the South African PGA circuit and is considered one of the most beautiful golfing ranges in Southern Africa.
- Family Fun: Visitors can turn their visit into a family holiday since there is plenty for kids to do here as well - from the Magic Company children’s entertainment group to Cosmic Bowling and a kiddie spa.
