Bravobet: Get 50 Free Spins on Sweet Bonanza 1000

I gave Zombie School Megaways a spin, expecting the usual horror-themed slot, but after spending some time in the undead-infested halls, I realised it had more to offer than just creepy characters. This horror-themed online slot takes you into a zombie-infested high school, where each spin has the potential to trigger cascading wins across up to 117,649 ways to win.

This review breaks down my findings after testing Zombie School Megaways, including the theme, bonus features, and potential pitfalls, to help you decide whether it deserves your time.

Zombie School Megaways Slot Overview

Pragmatic Play released Zombie School Megaways in August 2025. This slot title features a 6-reel layout with changing reel heights that show between 3 and 7 symbols per spin. Zombie School Megaways has a default RTP of 96.55%, but this depends on where you play it.

I launched it on Hollywoodbets, one of the leading South African Casinos, where bets range start at R0.20 per spin, and the maximum payout is 10,000x the stake. There, it’s classified as a medium-volatility slot, same as Pragmatic Play’s official page.

Zombie School Megaways Slot: Theme and Storyline

Zombie Megaways Slot is set in a creepy school cafeteria teeming with undead. The premise is simple yet chaotic. Here, the teachers, principals, and hall monitors have completely turned into brain-hungry, groaning ghouls.

I liked the fact that I didn't find Zombie School Megaways overly frightening – I think it's more of a horror comedy, despite the creepy music and faint, ghostly noises.

Once I triggered the Free Spins round, the action broke outside into full post-apocalyptic campus chaos.

Zombie School Megaways Slot: Graphics, Sounds and Animations

The haunting background music and distant groans keep the tension high from the moment you start spinning. I also liked how the artwork supports the game’s theme, and I felt like the cartoon-like graphics gave each spin a personality.

Zombie School Megaways Slot: Gameplay

The gameplay revolves around surviving a chaotic zombie outbreak by stringing together chain-reaction wins. In Zombie School Megaways, the lower-paying symbols consist of everyday school essentials, including backpacks, ID cards, first aid kits, and lunch boxes, which are all covered in blood to complement the already gruesome theme. The highest paying symbol is the boy with a baseball bat, which pays 20x your bet for 6-of-a-kind

To score a win, you must land 3 to 6 symbols, and you can trigger the bonus game if you hit 4, 5, or 6 School Bus Scatter symbols.

Since Pragmatic Play classifies Zombie School Megaways as a medium volatility slot, I'd recommend players approach it with a bankroll that can withstand around 100 spins without meaningful returns.

How to Play Zombie School Megaways Slot

  1. Adjust bet controls to choose the total bet: I usually start my spinning journey by adjusting the bet sizes. Use the "_" and "+" buttons to adjust the bets according to your budget. Click any of these to open the configuration panel and set your desired "bet level" and "coin value.

  2. Click the spin button: The spin button is marked by a large two-arrow circle at the bottom right. Click it to start your gameplay. SPACE and ENTER buttons on the keyboard can be used to start and stop the spin.

  3. Using the Autoplay function: To use the Autoplay function that sits right below the "Spin" button, simply move the slider to the count you want, and press the green "Start Autoplay" button. I could also enable the "Turbo Spin" or "Quick Spin" from this menu.

  4. Changing the speed: You can change the speed by navigating to the "Systems Settings" and toggling the "Quick Spin." Alternatively, click the small button inside the "Autoplay" option repeatedly to rotate through speed levels.

  5. Unlocking bonus spins: On your left, click on either the "Free Spins" or "Persistent Multiplier Free Spins" options. Free Spins start with 4-6 "Scatter Symbols" awarded at random, while the Persistent Multiplier Free Spins builds a "Total Multiplier" that carries through the feature after each tumble.

  6. Applying the Ante Bet: The switch to activate the Ante Bet is on the left side of the screen. Press it to raise your total "bet" multiplier from 20x to 40x and get a 5x chance to trigger "Free Spins." Note that while the Ante Bet is on, the bonus buy options are disabled.

Zombie School Megaways Slot Bonus Features

I tried all the features in Zombie School Megaways, and to be honest. I think this game gives more than just your standard Megaways experience. The most existing feature for me was the Super Free Spins round, which instantly ramps up the win potential with its massive persistent multipliers.

Tumble Wins

The base game had me hooked with its tumble feature, which is designed to let you chain multiple wins together on a single paid spin. So, whenever I hit a winning combination, those specific winning symbols exploded and disappeared from the grid. The remaining symbols would then fall to the bottom of the screen to fill the empty gaps. From there, brand new symbols tumbled down from above to fill the newly vacant spaces at the top, and whenever the new layout created another winning combination, the process repeated itself.

What it basically means is that during the base game, any win is multiplied by the number of tumbles that occurred on that spin. However, it resets back to zero at the start of every single spin, unlike the persistent multiplier, which continues to build and grow across the entire bonus round.

Scatter and Wild Mechanics

The Free Spins round is among the main selling points of Zombie School Megaways. Whenever I activated 4, 5, or 6 scatters, I’d automatically trigger the bonus game with 10, 15, and 20 free spins, respectively.

However, this is where my gameplay would feel somewhat frustrating because even though wins in this round have random multipliers, they reset per spin, and there were no retriggers. The only way I could enjoy the retriggers was by purchasing the Super Spins round for 500x my bet, which features a sticky spins multiplier that grows with each tumble.

Bonus Buy

Zombie School Megaways has a bonus buy feature, which allowed me to to bypass the base game entirely and immediately unlock the Free Spins round with compounding multipliers. The Bonus Buy feature comes with 2 options: the classic free spins round for 100x the bet and the Persistent Multiplier Free Spins for 500x the bet. Both are triggered by landing 4, 5, or scatters.

While the 500x buy-in could give you a direct shot at the 10,000x max win for a fixed upfront cost, that amount may be a little too expensive for first-timers. And the reason it's expensive is that the multipliers achieved after every tumble carries over between spins and continues building during the feature.

Ante Bet

I realised the Ante Bet feature could help increase the frequency of bonus triggers. This bet multiplier option cost me twice (from 20x to 40x) the regular bet. It’s particularly useful to players who like chasing features rather than waiting. After activating it, the game injected extra School Bus Scatter symbols onto the reels, and the “Buy Free Spins” feature was disabled.

Zombie School Megaways Slot Game

Zombie School Megaways Slot Dead Spins (Pro Tip)

Zombie School Megaways is a medium volatility slot, which means it balances between frequent smaller wins and less frequent, potentially larger payouts. In that case, I recommend players to use the dry spells to their advantage by practicing strict bankroll management. Chasing losses in such a game can drain a bankroll faster than expected.

Pro tip: Come up with a budget to survive between 100 to 150 base game spins. That way, you won't feel as if you are burning through your balance out of frustration.

Zombie School Megaways Slot Payouts & Volatility

Now, let’s understand the payouts and volatility of Zombie School Megaways to see what we should expect from this slot.

RTP and Volatility Analysis

Zombie School Megaways has a base RTP of 96.55%. Theoretically, the game returns R96.55 for every R100 wagered over a very large number of spins — the remaining R3.45 is the house edge. Remember that RTP varies by operator, so ensure you check what RTP your chosen casino has displayed before playing.

In terms of volatility, Zombie School Megaways is a medium volatility slot characterised by a balance between frequent smaller wins and less frequent, potentially larger payouts. This is the type of slot I usually approach with a fixed budget and modest stakes, which I keep consistent throughout.

Zombie School Megaways Slot: Max Win Potential

The maximum potential win on Zombie School Megaways is 10,000x the stake. With up to 117,649 ways to win, expanding reels, and multipliers during free spins, this slot gave me a reason to pay attention to its tumble mechanics and bonus features. What's even more interesting is that the Persistent Multiplier Free Spins feature carries the accumulated multiplier forward, allowing it to boost subsequent wins. That's different from the game’s standard free spins round, which resets per spin.

Tips for Playing Zombie School Megaways Slot

Bankroll management is also key to enjoying medium volatility slots such as Zombie School Megaways, which balance between frequent smaller wins and less frequent, potentially larger payouts. Here are 5 tips to help you out:

  1. Start by playing the demo version: The demo version helped me get familiar with the game mechanics, including the tumbling wins and multiplier mechanics. It allows me to explore such features without risking my bankroll.

  2. Set a budget and stick to it: Again, this is a medium volatility slot that I first decide how much I can afford to lose without affecting my gameplay. While that won't guarantee profits, it keeps me grounded and keeps my spending under control.

  3. Select a stake that suits your budget: I like taking modest, consistent bets when playing a medium volatility slot like Zombie School Megaways. That way, I'm able to avoid increasing my stake to recover losses due to periods of small payouts.

  4. Set a time limit: When I spin for too long, I tend to get burned out. In that case, I recommend setting session limits and taking breaks so that you don't feel mentally drained, which can lead to poor decision-making in terms of bankroll management.

What is the RTP for Zombie School Megaways Slot?

The RTP (Return to Player) for the Zombie School Megaways slot is 96.55%, as stated earlier. In theory, the player gets back an average of R96.55 for every R100 wagered over a huge number of spins — the remaining R3.45 represents the theoretical house edge.

It’s worth noting that this percentage varies by casino, so ensure you check what your chosen operator is displaying to know what their house edge is.
